当移民获批加拿大永久居留（permanent residence）时，会收到永久居留确认文件（Confirmation of Permanent Residence document, COPR）。当申请人最终被授予永久居留时，入境口岸的移民官（immigration officer）或IRCC办公室会在该文件上签字并签署日期。永久居民使用该文件出示给省或地区组织部门，从而可以获得特定服务。该文件上会打印出移民类别（immigration category）。
